ROCKABILLY WILLIE AND THE DANG-A-LANG BAND
Around nineteen hundred and fifty five
rockabilly music had just come alive
We didn't have no stereo just seventy-eights
and Pa's grammophone was in a terrible state
We found two buddies and we talked for while
about starting a band Carl Perkins' style
We borrowed som cash off'a Ma and Pa
bought second hand gear and threw it into the car
We drove on over to Willie's place
his ma let us in with a smiling face
You'll gonna make some music oh that'll be the day
but meant it in a most encouraging way
It didn't sound too good til we found our style
and folks complained down the road a mile
We found us a name we thought would rip up the land
called it Rockabilly Willie and the Dang-a-Lang Band
Wee-bop Shoo-bop oo-dang-a-lang
Wee-bop shoo-bop oo
Wee-bop Shoo-bop oo-dang-a-lang
Wee-bop shoo-bop oo That's my Thang
Now Pa got worried when we started to play
"Can't you find a job with regular pay?
That aint no life for a boy of mine
cruisin' round the country not makin' a dime."
I said: "Hey Pa, come on give me a break
we'll soon make some money cause we've got what it takes
we're making quite a name doin' one night stands
just wait till everybody's heard the Dang-A-Lang Band."
One saturday night while we was having a ball
a smart looking guy gave us a number to call
We'd got nothing to do so we got in the line
he said come on up you've got a contract to sign
He laid down the rules and said it's for your own sakes
so we'd better get started we got a record to make
Now we're the top of the bill come on give us a hand
cause we're Rockabilly Willie and the Dang-a-Lang Band
Wee-bop Shoo-bop oo-dang-a-lang
Wee-bop shoo-bop oo
Wee-bop Shoo-bop oo-dang-a-lang
Wee-bop shoo-bop oo That's my Thang
